Wild about a cure: Honoring cancer survivors

By Jessica Pickens on May 31, 2017

It's estimated that there will be 1.6 million new cancer diagnoses in 2017. At least 2,000 of those are diagnosed and treated each year in our community at Gibbs Cancer Center & Research Institute.

Rejoicing in cures and battles won, Cancer Survivors Day has been celebrated nationally on the first Sunday in June for 30 years. This year Gibbs Cancer Center & Research Institute is wild about a cure and is taking the opportunity to be a part of this yearly tradition to celebrate survivors and caregivers.

Each year, more than 300 cancer patients and their families along with the staff of Gibbs Cancer Center & Research Institute gather to honor the perseverance and courage of all cancer survivors. If you are a cancer survivor, join us this Sunday, June 4, 2017, from 2 - 4 p.m. at the Upward Star Center in Spartanburg. Four seats are reserved for each survivor and three guests. Admission is free, registration is not required.
