UnitedHealthcare and SRHS reach agreement

By Elby Bruce on October 17, 2016

UnitedHealthcare and Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System have reached a two-year agreement that will keep all Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System hospitals and physicians in UnitedHealthcare's network for commercial and Medicare Advantage health plans.

The new contract is effective October 15, 2016, ensuring members enrolled in UnitedHealthcare employer-sponsored plans do not experience any interruption in their in-network benefits coverage for services received at SRHS hospitals or physicians. The agreement includes 350 physicians in the Medical Group of the Carolinas and all four SRHS hospitals, and Ellen Sagar Skilled Nursing Center. The new contract also establishes a new agreement between the parties for Medicare Advantage plans.

“We appreciate our relationship with UnitedHealthcare and look forward to working with them in the future efforts to bring greater value to the upstate community,” said Paul Butler, senior vice president of business relations and sales for Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System. “We would like to thank our patients, employers, brokers and community leaders for their support throughout this process and are honored to continue to provide quality and affordable healthcare to UnitedHealthcare members.”
