Nurse practitioners provide unique care

By Elby Bruce on January 26, 2017

What are nurse practitioners, and how do they improve patient care?

Nurse practitioners see patients for a variety of reasons and can help make the experience move along more smoothly.

“As a nurse practitioner, we can practice independently,” Ashley Bennett, NP, said. “But in this role, we collaborate with physicians to provide the best care for patients.”

Bennett graduated from Clemson University and works at Immediate Care Center-Westside.

“We see anything from little babies with fevers and ear infections, up to diabetic foot wounds and influenza, strep throat, broken bones,” Bennett said.

They work closely with doctors to provide the best care.

“So if there's something out of the scope of a nurse practitioner, I always have a physician to rely on,” Bennett said.
