Dr. Carrie Johnson brings whole family approach to Mountain View Family Medicine

By Staff reports on June 18, 2025

With experience treating patients from birth to their golden years, Carrie Johnson, MD, has joined Medical Group of the Carolinas – Mountain View Family Medicine in Greer, bringing her dual board certifications in both internal medicine and pediatrics to serve patients across all life stages.

"I love going in and taking care of a newborn baby and parents and young families, and then your next appointment is someone who is 90," she said. "You get different perspectives across the whole spectrum and breadth from the beginning of life to older years."

Originally from Illinois, Dr. Johnson graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine and Pediatric Residency Program at the University of Kentucky.

Prior to joining Mountain View Family Medicine, Dr. Johnson served as lead physician at Prisma Health Pediatrics & Internal Medicine-Squires Point in Duncan.

"Science was something that always interested me. I like solving puzzles. I like to put pieces together," she explained. "Medicine aligns science and knowledge but also involves figuring out what's going on or helping patients understand things. There's a lot of teaching and education involved not only medical student education but patient education and counseling."

Dr. Johnson appreciates that family medicine allows her to maintain continuity of care with her youngest patients.

"You don't ever have to let go of your pediatric patients. They can just stay with you, which is really nice," she said. "I like getting to know people and building long-term relationships. From wellness to sick visits, you get to know your patients really well, so I enjoy that aspect."

When patients meet Dr. Johnson for the first time, she wants them to feel comfortable and understood.

"It can sometimes be a bit scary or daunting to see a new doctor. The big thing is that you'll be heard," she emphasized. "People know their bodies really well, and everyone has a different perspective about how to improve their overall health. Don't feel scared or intimidated. This is an open space to be honest, and I'll guide you to the right treatment plan."

Dr. Johnson now lives in the Upstate with her husband, their 2-year-old son and their three Pomeranians.

"We love the South because of the climate. People are really nice. We're close to the beach, close to the mountains," she said.

When not treating patients, she enjoys baking, hand embroidery, spending time with her family and staying active in their church community.

Dr. Johnson is now accepting new patients at Medical Group of the Carolinas – Mountain View Family Medicine. To make an appointment, call 864-877-9577.
